SENIOR TECHNICAL ARTIST - VFX

REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL ART DIRECTOR

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Create a variety of VFX, ranging from physical, environmental, cinematic attacks, reactions (footsteps, impacts, damage notification, etc.);
• Capable of doing both R&D and hands-on support for the team in the various phases of game production;
• Use all the tools at your disposal to create effects for the game (CPU/GPU particles, Shaders, Physics engine, VAT, etc.);
• Analyze the scene for performance issues and ensure that all effects are built as efficiently as possible;
• Work closely with the Technical Director, correcting errors and evaluating new tools.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• College or university diploma in 2D and 3D art and/or any equivalent training;
• 6+ years experience as a VFX Artist, or experience as a technical artist;
• At least 1 AAA title, preferably next-generation.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:

• Intermediate to expert knowledge of Maya, Blender, Houdini, Substance;
• Profiling skills (PIX, RenderDoc, real-time 3d constraints, hardware);
• Knowledge of scripting/programming languages (Blueprints, Python, C#, .Net, etc.);
• Knowledge/experience of shader systems (nodal and/or HLSL), Niagara;
• Ability to deconstruct complex visual effects from references and recreate them in a game engine;
• A critical eye for the sense of rhythm, animation and movement of visual effects;
• Ability to collaborate with artists, designers and programmers to meet artistic and technical challenges;
• Solid grounding in mathematics and physics;
• Bilingual (French and English) is a plus.
