SENIOR TECHNICAL ANIMATOR

REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ANIMATION

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Collaborate with members of the team to develop a vision of the project and determine technical feasibility;
• Evaluate game design proposals, and examine potential risks such as engine limitations, memory restrictions, frame rate constraints, etc;
• Work closely with programmers to assess existing animation and rigging tools + occasionally design custom ones to improve pipelines;
• Provide technical assistance to animators, game designers;
• Educate team members on the utilization of tools and techniques and promote understanding of innovative processes + documentation;
• Participate to help other team to build better animation system, best practice;
• Performance analysis of our animation system and characters.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• 5+ years of game production experience having shipped a console game;
• Experience working with Maya and MotionBuilder;
• Understanding of all facets of animation including rigging;
• Background as an animator, having an aesthetic eye for in game results;
• Experience working with motion capture data;
• Understanding of physics simulation setup and implementation in Unreal (or another game engine) and Maya/Motionbuilder;
• Receptive to feedback and able to work through an interactive process;
• Must be a self-motivated team member who takes ownership of their work.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:

• In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine and Blueprints;
• Excellent ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders;
• Must thrive in a team environment with a drive for self-improvement;
• The maturity to give and receive constructive criticism is expected.
