Our comprehensive 16-week paid summer internship program is crafted to provide students from all backgrounds with an impactful non-profit work experience, fostering a deep understanding of the sector. Our program is dedicated to equipping students with hands-on experience and sector knowledge needed for their future careers while making meaningful contributions to our organization. Interns at Make-A-Wish Canada have the opportunity to work in their preferred areas of interest, on significant projects alongside industry leaders.



We are looking for a Project Management Intern to join our Executive Office team at Make-A-Wish® Canada. We are looking for a driven, energetic, and creative student who enjoys collaboration, research and is eager to share new ideas and learnings with their colleagues. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Projects, the Intern will gain valuable, real-world project management and communication experience by providing diverse administrative and special project support.


This role is located in Toronto (North York) and is a summer internship at 5 days (37.5 hours) per week, Monday to Friday, on a hybrid schedule.  The expected start date for the successful candidate is mid-May 2024.



  • Actively support the management of new national projects, contributing to their successful execution.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Strategic Projects to create project plans, timelines, and milestones.
  • Assist in tracking projects’ progress and identifying potential risks.
  • Gather & analyze data for project deliverables.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to suggest and implement innovative methods, enhancing project effectiveness and efficiency for superior outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication between team members and stakeholders.
  • Prepare project status reports, presentations, and other materials and updates for distribution to stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with diverse stakeholders and contribute to discussions on project-related matters.
  • Organize project files and ensure proper documentation of project activities.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and project management methodologies.
  • Support with equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives and bring an EDI lens to project management.

  • Pursuing post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Previous project management experience is an asset.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Reliable team player.
  • Curious and eager to learn.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with common computer applications, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A clear Criminal Background Check required.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to the first day of work, subject to relevant accommodations or exemptions.



  • Working in a hybrid work environment with a minimum of two days in office and 3 days working remotely in a home office environment.


Physical/Mental Effort

  • Works with multiple demands and changing/overlapping priorities.
  • High degree of responsibility including confidentiality and day-to-day operations.
