Job Summary: Reporting to the Binder Supervisor, the Cutter Operator is responsible for setting up, configuring, operating and trimming all finishing services for press and digital print projects in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. Prepares the workload schedule to meet customer timeframe requirements as instructed by the Bindery Supervisor. Performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on the machine to ensure optimum output. Works closely with other staff members to exceed customer satisfaction and service expectations. 

 

Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bindery cutting functions as noted on work order/job tickets.
  • Operate equipment / machine to finish orders.
  • Process handwork assembly according to specifications.
  • Clean and disinfect workstation.
  • Align the stacked printed job into the cutter guide and prepare to cut by activating it.
  • Examine the stacked printed job for imperfections and adjust accordingly
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, conduct minor repairs, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Control and adjust machine settings when required.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning and machine setup of assigned equipment/machine.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Previous print knowledge/experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in operating a cutter machinery is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good written, verbal and mathematical skills.
  • Good attention to detail and hand eye coordination.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.
  • Meet or exceed minimum test results as specified by the hiring manager.
