The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Manager, Crew Planning, the Training Recovery Planner is responsible for the monitoring and execution of the simulator training plans and the flight training plans. This position responds to flight deck training disruptions and determines the most efficient recovery plan in a timely manner. The incumbent monitors pilot status and works with the Simulator Planner and Flight Training Planner to implement return to work training plans.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Ensure safety is the primary objective by adhering to the Sunwing safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization.
  • Ensuring training plans remain compliant with Canadian Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual, Pilot Training Manual, Collective Agreements and all other related regulatory documents.
  • Assisting with the data entry of all training and providing back-up in the absence of the Training Planner.
  • Monitoring progress and dynamically adjusting schedules for FCMs undergoing line indoctrination to make optimal use of Training Captain/ACP resources.
  • Monitoring the progress of all training plans and executing recovery when training is not completed (e.g. due to schedule change, simulator availability, sick calls).
  • Building simulator seat supports, advising Crew Scheduling of the position, and staffing the position when required.
  • Liaising with the Flight Operations Crew Records Coordinator to ensure all completed training is appropriately entered in the system for crew qualification and future planning purposes.
  • Monitoring Flight Crew Member recency, and coordinating with Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, and Flight Operations Management to prevent a FCM from de-qualifying or implementing a recovery plan.
  • Liaising with external partners, crew, and internal departments to communicate training changes.
  • Providing after-hours support for any urgent training disruptions.
  • Provide feedback, develop, and implement process changes for the continuous improvement of Flight Crew Member training plans.
  • Provide analysis and reports for training and additional tasks as assigned by the Manager, Crew Planning. 

 

Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years of aviation experience, preferably in an operational role.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and European Aviation Safety Agency Third Country Operators (EASA TCO).
  • Ability to work well under pressure, work independently, be flexible, reliable, and prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrated commitment to internal customer service.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve.
  • Knowledge of AIMS Applications is an asset.

 

Schedule 

  • 12-hour shifts working a 4 day on, 4 day off rotation.
  • Must be willing to work holidays.
  • Ability to be “on-call” or “contactable” after hours.
