About the Position:

Reporting to the VP, Construction, the Sr. Project Coordinator will assist with overseeing construction projects from planning to implementation.  The Sr. Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with project stakeholders, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest quality standards.  Your expertise in construction project administration will be essential to the success of Equiton’s projects.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control, and change order administration.
  • Prepare construction schedules and milestones, monitor progress against established timelines, and review specifications to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Maintain contracts with complex subcontracted scopes and subcontract administration, including, answering inquiries, and monitoring progress
  • Participate in reviews of subcontractor’s submissions for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordination with other disciplines against the design documentation prior to forwarding to the design team for review.
  • Perform and apply basic quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
  • Consult with designers/ engineers when reviewing drawings and suggest value-added or alternative construction methods or materials.
  • Assist site manager in project start-up activities.
  • Complete and maintain project documentation. (administering RFIs, shop drawing and submittal process, maintaining as-built drawings, etc.).
  • Oversee inventory and tracking of materials and equipment and expedites material orders.
  • Identify and assist in resolving complex field technical issues.

Required Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to apply foundational engineering/ problem-solving skills to construction challenges.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to create and administer subcontracts and contract documents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Blue Beam and MS Project

Education and Experience: 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a construction project coordinator of large high rise construction projects or similar role supplemented by other aspects of construction management including cost estimating, and direct site management
  • Bachelor of Engineering or a degree in a  relevant field such as Architecture or Construction Management.
