Accounting Technician

R.W. Gibson Consulting Services Ltd. is currently recruiting for the position of Accounting Technician at our west end Administration Office in Edmonton.

Position Overview

The Accounting Technician is responsible for full cycle accounting practices for an assigned internal client group. This includes maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports including monthly bank reconciliations. 

Shift Information: Full-time, permanent position Monday to Friday, daytime 40 hours

Work Environment: Office Work

Hourly Wage: $28.85 - $30.00 per hour

Location: 14713 116 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5M 3E8

Language Competency: English

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting functions, including operating the general ledger system, entering journal entries, and completing month-end closing
• Examine and verify the accuracy of work, and authorize routine payments, deposits, and withdrawals
• Complete bank and other accounting reconciliations
• Complete various complex related party/intercompany reconciliations
• Calculate and prepare monthly GST payments and conduct reasonability tests
• Record and reconcile daily cash sales
• Prepare refund cheques for cash customers
• Allocate warranty parts and labor based on information provided by operations
• Work with Managers on all cash, pricing, and cost concerns
• Analyze financial information, identify trends, make recommendations, collect information, and prepare reports
• Perform month-end and year-end reconciliations and journal entry transactions
• Maintain FX rates daily in the ERP System
• Demonstrate proficiency in complex ERP systems (e.g., CSD/Infor)

• Perform other job-related duties/projects as required

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance
• Three to five years progressive working experience in the accounting field

• Excellent problem solving, logical analysis and critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well the ability to adapt to other accounting software programs
