ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Our Building Engineering team located in the beautiful British Columbia is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team of dedicated professionals. You will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of residential structures, ensuring their safety, functionality and compliance with industry standards. Working closely with our senior engineers, you will have an opportunity to work on different projects, offer meaningful and innovative designs, perform site visits and provide recommendations for the successful delivery of projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about structural engineering and committed to delivering high quality work. The annual salary range for the position is between $79,000 and $95,000.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Preparing engineering service proposals for senior review; 
  • Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors; 
  • Leading the engineering design and managing the project team, schedule and budget on a variety of projects; 
  • Providing technical direction and peer review for junior team members; 
  • Designing and stamping medium to complex designs; 
  • Preparing specifications and drawings for building permit and tender; 
  • Maintaining a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term; 
  • Overseeing and providing construction review services; 
  • Preparing technical specifications and reports;  
  • As the team continues to grow, there will be an opportunity to oversee the work of engineering interns and technologist and provide guidance and mentorship opportunities to more junior staff; and
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time  

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Completion of a university degree in Structural Engineering; 
  • At least 5 years of design experience on structural engineering projects;
  • Previous experience in wood frame building design will be an asset;
  • Previous experience in luxury home and townhome design will be an asset;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and in good standing;
  • Familiar with all applicable building codes and design standards; 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit; 
  • Working knowledge of structural design software (SFRAME, ETABS, SAP, Woodworks, etc.); 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; 
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, time management and organizational skills; 
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
