Strategic Sourcing Manager – Facility Management

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental social, and economic wellbeing – and fosters the participation of Indigenous businesses. Based in Burlington, ON, MMC operates regional hubs in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford and London as well as a hub and distribution center in Oakville.

 

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Strategic Sourcing Manager to support our Strategic Sourcing team.  

 

We have a preference for Applicants to work out of our Thunder Bay office.

 

Position Overview

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the Director and/or Sr. Manager in the development and execution of multiple strategic sourcing initiatives across some or all our member hospitals and external Stakeholders (MOH, OH, SO, OECM, MPBSD and other organizations) as required.
  • Provide support to internal projects such as new customer growth opportunities and special projects with the Ministry of Health/Ontario Health.
  • Provide guidance to various intra-hospital end-user departments regarding commercial, financial, and contractual matters.
  • Oversee and lead the sourcing initiative process from start to finish, including contract development, negotiations and management, ensuring the best possible outcome.
  • Review the validity of procurement requirements considering the knowledge of the professions, trades, markets, and BPS directives.
  • Support the development of improved processes and templates for further standardization.
  • Based on the Hospital’s needs and Broader Public Sector (BPS) Procurement Directive, recommend and implement the most suitable procurement strategies and tactics.
  • Support the Director and/or Sr. Manager in the management of relationships within strategic committees involving External Stakeholders.
  • Support the Director and/or Sr. Manager in the preparation, maintenance, execution, and management of the Category Strategies.
  • Propose and assist the Director and/or Sr. Manager with implementing cost reduction strategies.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to others in a multi-stakeholder matrixed environment, as needed.
  • Research business environment for initiatives and preparing and presenting to all stakeholders all stages of sourcing initiatives.
  • Provide pertinent information relating to the regulatory business environment information.
  • Monitor business performance monthly/quarterly and implement plans required to maintain targets.
  • Monitor Supplier and Member compliance, as required.
  • Define procurement requirements, issue formal and informal tenders/proposals for goods and services, addenda, reviewing bid responses based on qualitative and quantitative criteria and write recommendation reports.
  • Responsible for the development and management of Sourcing Events in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Support Member Engagement with the onboarding of new members to MMC.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • University degree or College Diploma in business or related field. Strong preference for Facility Management experience 
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in Contracting, Strategic Sourcing, Public Procurement Purchasing, Material Management, Project Management, and Management experience in a Canadian healthcare-related field.
  • Certified SCMP Designation or PMP Certification, Public Procurement Designation.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Public sector procurement experiences an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and standard methodologies, strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with online RFx software (i.e., Bonfire / Biddingo).
  • Understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal and business risk.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Experienced with developing/conducting presentations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service & continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, control and coordinate various activities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management.

 

Travel

 

  • Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
