Strategic Sourcing Manager – Facility Management

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental social, and economic wellbeing – and fosters the participation of Indigenous businesses. Based in Burlington, ON, MMC operates regional hubs in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford and London as well as a hub and distribution center in Oakville.

 

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Strategic Sourcing Manager to support our Strategic Sourcing team.  

 

 

Position Overview

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Leadership & Management of Sourcing Activities

 

  • Be the key point person for the Category for all opportunities and issues.
  • Work closely with the Director, Strategic Sourcing to develop and implement sourcing strategies related to the portfolio.
  • Assists the Director, Strategic Sourcing with the development of and attainment of division goals and objectives.
  • Develops and leads multifunction project teams through sourcing activities. including RFx development execution, evaluation, financial analysis, negotiations, construction of legal contracts and contract awards.
  • Identifies potential sourcing opportunities through spend analysis, market and risk analysis and stakeholder relationships to grow the portfolio, maximize savings and/or improve patient care.
  • Provides value-added, customer-centered expertise and consultative service on strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management to members.
  • Oversee all activities related to the sourcing process in the assigned categories.
  • Develop and execute multiple strategic sourcing initiatives across some or all of our members, driving cost savings and process efficiencies with end-to-end ownership of initiatives.
  • Be accountable for compliance with procurement regulations (e.g., BPSPD, CFTA) for all duties performed within the portfolio and, where applicable, ensures the noncompetitive process is followed and documented.
  • Develops and maintains strong, productive relationships with other MMC teams, the Ministry, hospital members, SSO members, and suppliers.
  • Participates, acts as a resource, and provides leadership in resolving day to day operational supply issues.
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining a robust sourcing and category management strategy and streamlining processes to ensure overall best value procurement and contract management is achieved and external spending has been optimized.
  • Influence the Hospitals with respect to gaining buy-in and alignment on the Sourcing or Category Strategy.
  • Assist the development of annual procurement plans, including the annual strategic plan for category management and sourcing strategy, establishing priorities, and allocating resources.
  • Establish and build relationships with Executive and Working level stakeholders at Member Hospitals to facilitate formulation and execution of long-term sourcing strategies focused on continuous improvement and value creation.
  • Act as the primary interface to key Categories with Hospital stakeholders.
  • Identifying new opportunities for cost or process savings or increased service levels, including leading change initiatives and improving the overall “value chain” through a category management approach 

 

Team and Staff Development

 

  • Leads and manages strategic sourcing staff within their team while ensuring high customer service and compliance with laws and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Mentors and assists in developing team members by supporting an environment for personal development.
  • Conduct staff orientation, performance reviews, goal setting, and assisting staff in career progression. Assist with the preparation and delivery of internal training programs.

 

Other Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Attends and actively engages with other managers in other MMC cross-functional projects.
  • Assists with preparing and delivering organizational conferences and committees (Functional Advisory Committees, Annual General Meetings. Board Meetings).
  • Directing, leading, and managing a team of Strategic Sourcing Managers, Sourcing Specialists, Contract Specialists and/or Sourcing Associates responsible for executing sourcing initiatives across multiple hospitals.
  • Mentor and counsel a diverse team, promoting quality services through employee development, performance management and succession planning to ensure efficient use of the division's human, physical and financial resources.
  • Provide ongoing leadership by using effective management techniques, implementing change management and performance management processes, and developing competent and qualified staff to ensure high-level customer service.

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

Technical Requirements

  • Experience with hands-on exposure to SSO/GPO or healthcare supply chain/procurement, especially managing a competitive process, contracts, and resources.
  • Familiarity with online RFx software (i.e., Bonfire / Biddingo)
  • MS Office, business - advanced knowledge
  • Developing/conducting presentations– advanced knowledge.

 

Education, Training & Experience

  • University degree or College Diploma in business or related field.
  • Seven (7) – Ten (10) years in Sourcing and/or relevant experience (including contract negotiations). Proven experience in developing and executing sourcing plans leading to significant value delivery to stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing sourcing plans leading to significant value delivery to stakeholders.
  • Project Management training.
  • Conflict resolution training.
  • Negotiation training.
  • Business writing.
  • Ability to influence at all levels across the organization.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple stakeholders to reach alignment.

Preferred

 

  • MBA
  • Relevant experience in a healthcare environment and facilities management category
  • Certified SCMP Designation or PMP Certification, Public Procurement Designation
  • Experience in a supervisory role, management role.
  • Broader Public-Sector RFP knowledge and experience

 

Travel

 

  • Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
