Science Communicator – Discovery Theatre

English/French Required

$31,600 per year, Full-time 1-year contract

 

Are you passionate about discovering and sharing interesting things? Does the idea of explosions in the name of science interest you? The Discovery Theatre is where we bring science to life through high-energy science demonstrations and shows. This amphitheatre is the setting for wacky and wonderful science demonstrations, hosted live each day by Science North’s talented staff! Each show features loads of audience participation and plenty of surprises! The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in science, a willingness for continuous learning and bring to the opportunity their exceptional and dynamic presentation skills.

 

 

Position Highlights:

  • Troubleshoot daily operations and service issues of the Discovery Theatre
  • Tasking and deployment of the science demonstrator and volunteer teams
  • Train and coach new staff
  • School program delivery and special event programming
  • Creative development and delivery of visitor experiences
  • Maintain equipment, manage inventories
  • Enforce safety protocols and lead safety improvements
  • Visitor engagement

Compensation Highlights:

  • Full-time, 1 year contract opportunity
