$34,580 per year, Full-time 1-year contract

If this sounds like you we have the perfect opportunity! Join our science program team as a Science Communicator. Science Communicators are key players in our unique hands-on visitor experiences. They create and deliver exciting programming, coach and mentor junior staff on wowing everyone who comes to see us, provide integral information on visitor feedback, support research and design of new exhibits and make sure everything is in its place for things to run smoothly. Explore and work in a variety of areas of science, including: biology, space, chemistry and of course our northern animal ambassadors. Let us know your favourite when you apply!

 

 

Position Highlights:

  • Creative development and delivery of visitor experiences
  • School program delivery and special event programming
  • Visitor engagement
  • Tasking and deployment of science demonstrator and volunteer teams
  • Train, coach and mentor new staff
  • Maintain equipment, manage inventories
  • Enforce safety protocols and lead safety improvements
  • Troubleshoot daily operations and service issues for the lab

 

Keys to Success:

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills in both English and French
  • Engaging and expressive presentation and program delivery skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Proven ability to embrace teamwork yet be self-motivated
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Respect and kindness towards others and an genuine desire to create a supportive environment
  • Willingness to work some evenings, weekends and public holidays

 

Compensation Highlights:

  • Full-time, 1 year contract opportunity
