How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Coordinator, Community Outreach & Education is responsible for supporting the development, and coordination of assigned curriculum linked education programs including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to effectively advance TRCA’s strategic goals.
- Organizes the logistics, communications, and plans for the execution of education programs
- Delivers programs, and/or other types of educational activities in various forms for
- Monitors, reports and tracks metrics related to event and program deliverables
- Meets with internal and external stakeholders as required to support the execution of education and training and community outreach programs and events
- Coordinates events working in conjunction with Marketing, Communications & Events as required
- Designs and deliver tailored marketing and promotion including letters, flyers, signage, website, and social media content
- Supports financial tracking and reporting as well as sustainability of metrics
- Provides training to TRCA and external staff as required
- Coordinates and consolidates information and data for grant proposals
- Manages equipment/supply inventories and promotional program materials, replaces, repairs or purchases equipment for programs
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties
What will you need to succeed:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Environmental Studies, Outdoor Recreation, History, Geography or a related field
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening. Employees/candidates under the age of eighteen (18) years are not eligible to have a VSS, therefore will not be required.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
- 2+ years of experience providing program coordination and delivery
- Experience teaching within a school, camp, or outdoor education centre
- Knowledge of strong classroom management and teaching skills within diverse environments
- Strong employment coaching skills with proven client employment track record
- Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences
- Ability to engage with partners and the public and communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
- Understanding and application of basic mathematical functions (e.g., adding, subtracting, measuring, money computation)
- Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines
- Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
