About the role

The MNO Special Projects and Initiatives – Team Lead is to spearhead efforts aimed at enhancing the health and wellness initiatives for Métis clients and communities, ensuring that these efforts are culturally sensitive and relevant. This includes collaborating with various partners to offer direct assistance to projects and frontline workers within the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO). Additionally, the Team Lead will work closely with internal supports, such as the Institute for Clinical and Evaluative Services, to gather insights from data analysis regarding system gaps, barriers, challenges, and successes. Overall, this position seems crucial for advancing the well-being of Métis individuals and communities through innovative and culturally appropriate approaches.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with ICES Analytical experts:  involves collaborating with experts who analyze data related to the Metis Nation of Ontario. This collaboration aims to gather information and advice on proposals or opportunities that would benefit MNO citizens by providing access to new or existing services and supports.
  • Provide advice on gaps, barriers, challenges: Utilizing statistical information, and  offer guidance on areas where there are gaps, barriers, or challenges in accessing services and supports. This advice will support communication and information exchange relevant to addressing these issues.
  • Liaison with funders: Working alongside the Manager of Special Initiatives, engage with funders to explore opportunities for improving services and supports for MNO citizens. This may involve discussing funding opportunities or partnerships that could enhance the quality and accessibility of services for Métis communities.
  • Lead team involvement in partnerships: lead various internal and external partnerships. These partnerships could be with other organizations, agencies, or service providers, with the aim of collaborating to enhance services and supports for MNO citizens.
  • Overall, the role will focus on leveraging data analysis, communication, and collaboration to identify and address gaps in services and supports for the Metis Nation of Ontario, ultimately working towards improving the well-being of MNO citizens.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of key health service systems including knowledge of major factors which contribute to gaps, challenges and barriers to access for Métis people
  • A post-secondary degree in Social Services field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A high degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
  • Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Superior organization skills and time/priority-management managing self and others including the design and implementation of project work plans
  • Elevated levels of problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others as a peer leader on a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of policies, processes, practices and documentation used to deliver program services or the Branch mandate
  • Previous 2 years or more experience in a similar/comparable role
  • Previous experience dealing with confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to leading a peer group to complete a task, deliverable or project
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible when leading in a demanding and dynamic environment

Preferred:

  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
  • Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader indigenous key challenges, and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate / leverage the skills of a team to complete assigned tasks and deliverables
