How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Coordinator, Community Outreach & Education is responsible for supporting the development, and coordination of assigned education, training and/or community-based programs, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to effectively advance TRCA’s strategic goals.

 

Reporting to the Program Manager of Partners in Project Green’s energy performance programs, the Coordinator will deliver energy management and low carbon transportation programming that aims to help businesses capitalize on the social, environmental and financial benefits of carbon reduction initiatives.

 

Partners in Project Green is a community of leaders advancing environmental action and economic prosperity across the GTA. Comprised of businesses, government, institutions and utilities, PPG works to collectively advance social and environmental sustainability through knowledge sharing, technology and infrastructure implementation, and network building.  We help businesses lower operational costs while integrating environmental and social responsibility into their business models, and work in partnership with our municipalities to advance sustainability in the region as a whole.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • With supervision, delivers programs and projects that result in measurable environmental improvements for business and government leaders. For example, conducting site level sustainability assessments and delivering energy conservation and low carbon transportation programs.
  • Develops networks of vendors/partners that can facilitate the implementation of energy management solutions by leveraging industry associations and existing networks.
  • Delivers workshops, programs, training and/or other types of educational activities in various forms, including business and other stakeholder forums.
  • Monitors, reports and tracks metrics related to event and program deliverables, while undertaking research into industry best practices.
  • Supports financial tracking and reporting as well as sustainability of metrics.
  • Supports the coordination of requests for comments on draft content and the preparation of project correspondence including agreements, audits, briefings, reports; receives, reviews and incorporates technical comments into relevant documents.
  • Meets with internal and external stakeholders as required to support the execution of programs and events.
  • Coordinates and consolidates information and data for grant proposals.

 

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Business, Climate, Energy Management, or a related field
  • Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license 

 

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience providing program coordinator or administration, relationship/ account management, program management, low carbon transportation, and energy and carbon management.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and in an urban sustainability context.

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Energy management, GHG calculation methodologies and low carbon transportation concepts, ideally related to the ICI sector
  • Familiarity with Zoom and other online event platforms
  • Business writing and grant writing
  • General knowledge of energy conservation and low carbon transportation policy, and energy incentive programs, in Ontario
  • Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences.
  • Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines. 
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint.
